Many times when we think of surrender we think more in terms of the sacrifice than we do in terms of the freedom that sacrifice affords us. By focusing our attention on all the things that we don’t want to give up we work ourselves into a state of dread regarding the journey ahead, tainting the spirit of the journey before we even get started. On the other hand, if we start out focused on the things that we do want to give up, the transition becomes easier. You build the fuel to tackle the things you don’t enjoy later on down the line. I have even found in my journeys with Adonai that when I bring those issues that I want resolved to His table, the other things actually start to seemingly resolve themselves almost effortlessly.

This has to do with the way watching Him in action builds our faith and drives us to go deeper, further than we ever desired to before. Let’s be honest. Most don’t doubt whether or not Elohim can do something, they doubt whether He will do it for them. Learning how precious and cherished you are in His Heart is a process for most of us and often a difficult one at that. So I tend to start with something that I am excited to shake off. My favorite starting out, and still is to this day, is anxiety and worry. There are numerous passages in the Word that give the command “do not!” in regards to worry and instruct you to hand your cares over to Him. Talk about a rule you want to follow!

A few of my favorite passages {taken from NIV84}are:

{Luke 12:22-26} “Then Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?”

{1 Peter 5:7} “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”

{Philippians 4: 4-6} “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

That last passage starts with “Rejoice in the Lord always.” So every time worry comes around I say, “Abba, I surrender [insert situation, issue, etc.] in to Your care and I rejoice in You knowing that is already done. In the Name of Yeshua, Amen!” Then I give Him some praise, whether I feel it or not, and start doing something else. Over time, as He works in the marvelous ways that He does, you will build a confidence in what He will do for you that will crush doubt and leave you excited to take on even bigger things. The “deeper” parts of the journey will no longer seem so unattainable and you will be so ready to hand something else over to Him to see what He will show out with next!

There is a process to renewal and change and in my opinion it all starts with fueling passion and desire. As He acts on your behalf that passion and desire for Him grows more and more until sacrificing for Him gets easier than you ever imagined it could. If you trust Him with the “little” things, He will build you up in the “big” things. So step out on a bit of faith, and pursue Him with something your excited to get rid of. Believe me He is standing waiting for you to hand it over so He can show you how He loves you. It won’t be long before those tough things don’t seem so tough anymore.

I pray you peace and abundance beloved ones! Shalom!~

Surrendered to Him~
