Along my Journey2Surrender, HaShem {YHVH, literally The Name} has taught me many things. The ones that have been the hardest to swallow though have been the things He has taught me about love. I’ve always considered myself a loving and kind person, but after a spending a little over a year being intentional about getting to know Him I’ve realized that the definition of love that I was operating under was detrimentally flawed. The more I learn about how He loves and how He defines love, the more I realize that is high time that I become more intentional about being a student of love.

What is Love?

We are taught of love in terms of it being a feeling, a noun. The Word, however, quite often speaks of love as an action, a choice, a verb. Feelings are fickle. They come and go, wax and wane, and change in an instant. But a resolve, a commitment, stands strong in the face of opposition because it’s rooted in something more solid, more dependable. It is something that you decide to show toward another person and do it faithfully. Love puts the other person first…period! We as believers can be secure in doing this knowing that God will provide for our needs as we take care of His people.

How do we learn to love?

Love is not an inherent talent. It is a skill that must be honed and practiced intentionally like any other.{Click to Tweet} The question is what do we practice when we practice love? What skills are we honing and building? To answer that we are going to take a journey through 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 and learn to apply each element of it to our children. After all, as single moms, they are our top earthly priority! As we learn to love our children, practice it daily, and build up our love muscles with those who matter most in the earth, we will be better equipped to spread that level of love to everyone we encounter. This is one of the best testaments to the Kingdom there is…to love each another as He loves us! I look forward to journeying with you as we discover the roots of the Love that never ends {1 Corinthians 13:8a}!~
