While talking over another issue with a friend, I came face to face with just how many single moms are bound in ways that they have no reason to be. Many are chained emotionally, legally, and even physically in ways that is adding more pressure to their already maxed out lives. Over the course of the next few weeks we are going to generally discuss some of those areas in an effort to bring awareness as to what they are and where they hide, so that each person can evaluate for themselves what does or does not need to be done.

To start with, take a look over your life…the people in it, the authority they hold over you and your household, and the benefit they bring or responsibilities they lift off your shoulders. Also take a look at any services you may receive. It may be something small or it may be a huge part of how you maintain your family. Either way, add it to the list of things that you want to keep an eye on over the course of this series.

See one of the things about our God is that He does NOT do competition. He is a jealous God and intends to be your Only in EVERYTHING! The more places you are leaning, the more things you are chained to in ways He did not Ordain, the harder it is to live a life Divinely Covered.  Being Covered by Yeshua alone {1 Corinthians 11:3}, means that HE must be the ultimate Authority in your life and that you need to be free to serve Him in any way He desires. Ask yourself, if God called me to {go on a missions trip, move to a new city, homeschool, be home with my children, etc.} is there anyone or any service that would have the legal right to stop me? Is there anyone or any service that I would hesitate answering the call for because I have become so accustomed to their help?

Those answers are your chains!!!

There are two key areas that chains tend to hold on the tightest: finances and child custody. We will talk about each of those in detail later, but be specifically aware of those areas as you are looking through your life. If you find the answers to be, “I don’t know” then now is the time to find out. There are many free legal aid agencies that would gladly talk these things aver with you and even help if there are any legal actions that need to be taken.  The point here is to open your mind and eyes to all the things that are weighing you down and hindering your flight. It is more often our unawareness of these things that hurts us.

In the midst of the obvious however, do not forget to take into account the emotional. Maybe there are those in your life that hold no actual power over you but pour out more emotional guilt trips than the law allows every time you do something that inconveniences their will in some way or another. Take note of those things as well because we are going to talk about them too.

Get all of this together over the next week and pray over it. Ask God what it is He wants you to see in this process and ask Him to lead the way. There comes a time in your journey where you have to actively embrace the freedom that has been handed to you. Living for Him is an intentional lifestyle that works best when you take purposeful, educated steps with the blinders off your eyes. I pray that throughout this series the eyes of your heart are enlightened and your steps are ordered by the One Who Reigns! Be blessed beloved! Shalom!~

Surrendered to Him~

My heart goes out to you ladies. I know so many. Coming from a broken home the biggest goals I’ve had as a mother are 1. to make absolutely sure my children KNOW without a shadow of a doubt that I love them and 2. I pray actively against generational curses. May Abba continue to guide you.

Thank you Dawnita! Those are very important goals too. #1 is vital to a healthy home and healthy children and so many forget about #2, but it is something that we need to be diligent about. Thanks for the reminder, and for sharing your heart and your story! Blessings!~
