2014_01_26 Rewind

Every once and awhile you come to a point in your journey where you look up and realize you have no idea where you are or how you got there. You are certain you are not where you are supposed to be, you are not where you used to be, and you don’t even know where you took a wrong turn. You have tried everything you know how to adjust your course in motion and just ended up more lost than you were before. It is those moments that call for a complete halt and rewind.

The goal is to stop everything and go back to the last point where you knew you were on the right track. I find that just going back to moment is not enough though. I have to spend some time in that moment to figure out what it was that caused me to rush off in the wrong direction without getting proper instructions from my Master. Unfortunately, more often than not the culprit is impatience. I, in my small and insignificant wisdom, think that God is moving too slow and needs my help. A nice reminder last week from 2 Peter 3:9 flooded me with the truth of His timing. What seems to be His slowness with me is His mercy towards me.

This may shock you…I know it shocked me when I found out…but turns out, I’m human! I know…I never would’ve guessed that either, but I have limitations. There are things that I cannot do in my own strength. In all of those things, and it turns out that there are a lot of them, it is only by His Grace and Power that those things can get done through me. When I step out of His will or try to get ahead of His timing though, I step out of that Grace and Power and, because nothing good and productive can happen outside of Him, things begin to unravel.

At that point, what you might lose by stopping everything pales in comparison to what you stand to lose by not getting back into His Grace, His Protection, His Will. So should you find yourself in one of those places, where nothing looks familiar and you know you have wandered away from the protective hand of the Father, run, don’t walk, back to the last place you remember standing with Him. He will be waiting there for you with open arms and a compassionate place for you to lick your wounds and heal from your self-inflicted injuries. And He will intertwine His fingers with yours all over again and graciously and faithfully set out on the journey with you once again.

Don’t let the sun set on another day outside of His plan for you. Don’t let another night fall without His Light illuminating your path. Hit stop right now and rewind back to the place in your journey where He waits patiently for your return. I pray you discernment and passion beloved! Shalom!~

Surrendered to Him~
