Exploring around Twitter over the course of a week not to very long ago, I saw a series of tweets, all from different sources that said pretty much the same thing. They were talking about the excitement and strict adherence to the Word of new Christians on fire for God. The general message that was being sent out was, “Be patient with new Christians…they’ll calm down after a while.” And as I’m reading this, I’m wondering, “Why do we want new Christians on fire for God to “calm down”. Why aren’t we trying to catch that fire and reignite our excitement, our passion, our devotion to and adherence to His Word.

See I think that, like in any other relationship, we tend to get comfortable in our relationship with God and stop doing the things it took to build the relationship now that we find our place in the relationship is secure. We counsel married people away from doing that with their spouses, but what about doing it with God? Well I say it’s time to change that. It is time for us to rekindle our fire for His Word, for being set apart, for being His remnant! As the singer of one of my favorite songs invites God into her rekindling by saying, “Burn it all down…and leave only You. Let nothing stand in the place of Your Truth”…so say I! I want nothing of this world left on me…only Him, His will, and His Way!

So this week I challenge you to look back on when you first found your passion for Yeshua, for Jesus, and invite Him to rekindle that passion within you. Find a new way to chase Him…a book study, a group Bible study, maybe music or art…anything that can open up a new door for Him to flood into your life. You may even be able to rekindle some of the good habits of old that have gotten lost along the way. Spice up your relationship with Him, do something special, and let that fire burn!

Find some of that passion and longing that David had in one of my favorites…Psalm 63{v.1-8}…and hold it close.

O God, you are my God,

earnestly I seek you;

my soul thirsts for you,

my body longs for you,

in a dry and weary land

where there is no water.

 I have seen you in the sanctuary

and beheld your power and your glory.

Because your love is better than life,

my lips will glorify you.

I will praise you as long as I live,

and in your name I will lift up my hands.

My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods;

with singing lips my mouth will praise you.

On my bed I remember you;

I think of you through the watches of the night.

Because you are my help,

I sing in the shadow of your wings.

My soul clings to you;

your right hand upholds me.

I pray your faith, fire, and passion are renewed as a portion of your daily bread. Embrace the blessing of the chance to live for Him and Him alone and make each day a reflection of that. He loves you completely and endlessly! Let’s start returning some of that love! Be blessed beloved! Shalom~
