2014_02_09 God's Time

I had a very interesting conversation this weekend that really got my wheels turning. It all started with a dear woman asking me if she should work. Apparently she is being bombarded with people telling her she should and this morning I realized just how relevant it was to this blog, to women, and to single moms in particular. Time is one of the most precious and fleeting things that Elohim ever created. You cannot rush it so that you can move forward. Once it is past, you cannot get it back. And whoever is in charge of what you do with yours, has the most power in your life. Scary statement, I know, but if you think about it honestly and with an open mind…it’s true!

In this highly capitalist society of ours, women everywhere are not just choosing to be employees, but encouraged to be employees. In the case of single moms, many churches even encourage this. It is as if our faith has shrunk to a point where a paycheck is the only source of provision we can believe in. So we sell ourselves, we sell control of our time, so that we can have the money we need to support our families. We sell ourselves into bondage where when we are allowed to do anything is dictated by someone else and rarely is that someone else a believer actively living out their faith.

In this bondage, what hours and days you are to be in service to them are dictated by them. What you have to do in order to get the payment promised is controlled by them. Very rarely are the Divine duties given to women considered important. Whether you can attend your child’s event or school program is decided by the schedule they set for you. When you are able to spend time with your family is dictated by your obligations to them. If you are married, they also control your husband in that what time he can get with you falls behind their needs in the list of priorities. Your entire schedule revolves around the job. It is the first thing that goes on your schedule and everything else must find a place to fit around it. How much time we have for serving God and His will are restricted to the leftovers of our time and energy.

I am not saying that a woman working a sin or any such horrifically drastic thing as that. I am simply asking you to seriously consider the consequences of such an endeavor and weigh them against the benefit. Many who choose to take on extra jobs are still doing just as poorly as you are without it, except they now have more stress and less time. So let’s cease considering employment the catch all solution to financial difficulties and go to the throne to ascertain His will before blindingly jumping into the endeavor of getting a job. There are a multitude of other options out there, including starting your own business or even banding together with a community of women to pool resources. Don’t let the world convince you that you must sell yourself in order for your house to be provided for.

That is not to say that a job may be a need in your life for a season, maybe even a lifetime. But that is not a decision to be made based on finances. Genesis 3:16 teaches us that our desire, our longing, what we stretch out after is to our husbands. For those without a husband or a father, 1 Corinthians 11:3 shows us that Yeshua fills in that gap and covers us completely making our desires to Him, making us covered by Him alone. In that regard, God may very well call you to work a job. But when it is God’s choice that you do so, He covers you in it and lays out everything in your favor, ensuring that His will is done.

God has no need for man’s money to provide for His children and provide for them He does. In Luke 12:22-34 Yeshua teaches us that providing food, drink, and clothing for our families and ourselves is something that God will take care of and it is only pagans who must run after such things. But this is about so much more than us being provided for! 1 Corinthians 6:20 tells us that we were bought with a price and that we are not our own. Therefore “our” time is not ours to sell to begin with! Every aspect of this life we live belongs to God, bought and paid for by the Blood of His only begotten Son and we need to be very careful about selling off His property.

Ask yourself why it is you are working that job or considering working that job and take those reasons to the Word to see what God has to say about those things. Build your faith by writing His Truth in those areas on your heart, speaking them from your lips, filling your spirit to the brim with them. Seek His face and boldly ask what He desires you to do and do it. No matter what it is, no matter how far-fetched it looks, no matter how scary it feels…DO IT! Walk it out in your life knowing that He will stand by His Word and faithfully supply all your needs according to His Riches in Glory {Phil 4:19}. He will see you though it all!

I pray you courage, discernment, and mustard seed faith! Be blessed beloved! Shalom!~

Surrendered to Him~
