2015_01_05 Prayer

Have you ever noticed how specific the prayers are in the Bible? They read like a list of desires or instructions, especially in the Old Testament. Many of these prayers were met with immediate action, be it confirmation that they were heard or fulfillment. Often the answer came before they were even finished praying. Now I’m not saying that we should only pray this way or that every time we do that Adonai is going to answer them immediately. It did, however, get me to thinking about how lukewarm or passive some of my prayers were.

As got thought deeper and deeper on this subject, I heard that Still Small Voice whisper in my spirit, “…You do not have because you do not ask God.” {James 4:2b} Listening to that Voice I begin to remember that my biggest breakthroughs in my Journey to Surrender have come as a result of open, honest, unabashed prayer to Him. I’m talking about flat out, uncensored, full disclosure conversations with the Creator. This is about admitting to Him the truth about what you are going through in your walk and what you really desire. We learn through the story of Job that this is not a sin. The key is remembering that He is in control and always has your best interest in mind. But receiving His help through the resistance you are feeling or the emotions you are having requires that you honestly open up to Him about them. It’s not that He doesn’t know or can’t fix it without you asking. The asking is for you, to open you up, to place you naked before the throne in a position ready to receive.

One of the devotionals I am reading says that we are to come to Him boldly and trust that His perfection will sort through our imperfection and do what is best. I think that is a beautiful expression of truth! Your honesty is not an attempt to override the Will of Elohim. It is to invite Him into your intimate places through your openness and vulnerability. It is in those places that you open up willingly to Him that He can affect the most change.

So come boldly to the Throne of Grace, bearing all of you vulnerabilities and hidden places. Lay your requests humbly at His feet, revealing all truth. Invite Him to cover you and the situation with His will. Then surrender to His Way and watch Him work! But it all starts with you being honest. Stop trying to convince God that everything is just the way you like it and you have no problems. That act of speaking the solution and not the problem are for affirmations and confessions you make daily over your life to build up your spirit, get the Word written in your heart, and speak His Will into the atmosphere. Those are prayers of confirmation and thanksgiving that follow up the prayer I’m talking about. But first you must ask. Be real with Him, be specific with Him. I am here to testify that He will show up and show out and the sound of your call. You need only ask and believe. I pray you boldness and courage beloved! Shalom!~

“Your honesty is not an attempt to override the Will of Elohim. It is to invite Him into your intimate places through your openness and vulnerability. It is in those places that you open up willingly to Him that He can affect the most change.” Such a powerful truth… Most of the time, we use prayer as our way of establishing control over situations… Whereas it is about yielding to the Kingship and Creatorship of God… Thank you for your post!

      Shalom!
Thank you for your comment! You are so right! It is about yielding our all, our everything to the One who created it all! Too many times we try to keep things locked off or try to pick and choose what we hand over to Him, but He wants it all! Nothing less than full surrender will do!~
